2010 Super Duty Transmission Service

Just called one of my local Ford dealerships about trans service and they patched me through to the Quick Lane on their lot. The person I spoke with said they have the heated flush fluid machine but normally don't drop the pan and replace the filter. From every thing I've beeen reading, shouldn't I replace the filter too?

The filter they change is in-line, there is an internal filter that only needs to be changed if the trans fails.

The filter is mounted in line, in a silver housing about 4 inches long. They just Change the filter media when they service it.

Please disregard this advice. It's wrong. It was right for a 2003 to an early 2008, but there was a change in 2008 to an internal filter that really is a good filter and needs to be changed.

You DO have an internal filter that has a change interval. I don't know what that interval is, it will be in your owner's manual. You do NOT have an inline filter.

Thanks Mark. The manual says replace filter at 60000. I not sure if the guy at the Quick Lane really understands the hot flush machine. He was saying about letting the truck warm up to change but I asked him how is he going to add warm fluid to the trans.

It's 60,000 miles for the trucks with the internal filter.

If the transmission starts the process cold it won't work because the thermostat will be closed restricting flow to the cooler lines. And if a non-heated machine is used the room-temperature fluid will cool the transmission down and close the thermostat. They need to change the filter though.

I stand corrected, I didn't catch the year being on the phone app.
