Another clutch adjustment question

Would that be the same adjustable linkage that is referred to as the "crayon" in this thread?

Had to look it up to see what Ford called it... "adjusting point".
"pointy thing" is what I've always called it. ;)
But yeah to what you asked. :)
I welded a motorcycle wrist pin to the base of my crayon (stuffed a stainless
steel bolt into it to hold it straight) that just happened to be exactly the size
I wanted to cover up and protect almost all the adjustment threads and give
the "crayon assembly" more stability both at the same time. Ford made it
just a little bit too short for my pickup's situation IMO.
But I'm weird, I try to "improve" everything that I take apart. :/

My father once had a 1980 f150 that for some reason after replacing the stock clutch the adjuster was too short.I think we welded a bolt or some rod to the stock one to add length and that solved it.My buddy has the same problem with his 71 sport custom. The only thing I can think of is the pressure plate must have be different.

I even wiped the sucker off, for a change. ;)
I'm not sure what the story's going to be about why they seem too short.
Bill the ND might have an idea?

Now since my clutch does not engage till the pedal is almost all the way out,
I'm assuming that too much of the point is sticking out and I have to back it off.
Does that sound right?

...but what do I know? :/
I'm easily entertained! XD

Yeah, I called it the "crayon" cause that's what the guy called it in the original thread.

1973/76 F100/350 / 1973/74 E100/300 / 1975/79 E150/350 / 1979 E100.
D3TZ7521A .. Clutch Adjustment Rod / 5 1/2" long.
D3TZ7A504A .. Clutch Adjustment Rod Extension / 3/8" I.D. / 9/16" O.D. / 2 23/64" long.
The rod is threaded, the extension is not.
The extension (has a pointed end), just slides over the threads of the rod, and has two nuts that tighten it up once the clutch is adjusted.
What happens: The extension falls off. Peeps are klewless as to what happened, dunno about the extension, get another rod that "sorta works."

I finally got under the truck today and made the adjustment. Mine had the extension on the threaded adjustement rod and a jam nut. I backed it off about 3/8 - 1/2" and it put the clutch engagement a couple inches off the floor...just where I wanted it. Here is what it lookied like before I made the adjustment. Easy deal...Thanks!
