There is no adjustment on hydraulic clutch system. Unless you get a new master cylinder that has an adjustable rod but that's only the to make up for slop in the clutch pedal assembly.
If its going all the way to the floor before it disengages the clutch the there is still air in the system when I put a 5 speed in my 86 I just pump the heck out of it once the let it gravity bleed for a minute then pumped it some more an gravity bleed again
That's about right it shouldn't engaged/disengage the clutch as soon as you foot hits the pedal because in high traffic situations when taking your foot completely off the pedal would where your leg out there's supposed to be a little bit of free play in it so when you leave you foot on the pedal it won't push to hard on the throw out bearing so it won't where out prematurely
I should be specific. When you push pedal, it only takes about an inch or so in and clutch is fully disengaged. Way too soon I think. But I don't know how to adjust this. Bleed slave more? Is the master cylinder link adjustable? Chiltons book says nothing about clutch pedal adjustment.
Perhaps you got the wrong clutch set? I've seen it happen to a friend ha got the wrong clutch set and installed it in his truck and the clutch was way to stiff.
Most Ford clutchs look the same especially if you get one from like Advance, Napa or Autozone. What it could be is "IF" it's wrong the diaphragm on the pressure plate sticks out further than it should. Which eats up your free play and gives you a clutch that disengages to soon or is incredibly to hard to disengage.
I work at a part store I've seen a lot of parts packaged wrong. And seen people just sell people the wrong part, or sell them the right part and give them the wrong part if you can check your part numbers on your clutch the box vs the receipt vs whatever store you got it from
