Bad Fuel

I got a tank of bad (trash no water) fuel in my 2005 F-450 6.0 Powerstroke. I changed filters, Pumped tank out then put in good fuel and Diesel Kleen changed filters again. Truck will crank and run 3-7 seconds then dies.
While it's running it sounds perfect (no miss). The oil pressure gauge will read good oil pressure one time and will read no oil pressure the next time. I have had really bad luck with Ford Dealerships in the Birmingham Alabama area. If I can fix this myself I will be alot better off. Any advice would be appreciated.

How long did you run it before you realized you had bad fuel? Getting bad fuel can also damage injectors eventually. You might not have pressure from the fuel pump depending on what it did. Not really knowing what the trash was that was in the tank makes it hard, but anything connected to fuel delivery on the truck could have been affected.

The pickup tube has a screen, that could be cloged, Or you could have wiped out the lift pump. Open the top fuel filter and have someone crank it for you, see if the fuel level in the filter housing rises.

Put the injector cleaner into the fuel bowl and get a dose into the injectors.IMHO Anyone of the above posts may be right on the money. These injectors don't like dirt so don't be shocked with bill for a bunch of new injectors if you have been running crap fuel. What kind of fuel have been running to have that much dirt in it?

Thumbs up

Have poured Diesel Kleen into secondary filter. No luck. Have driven diesel trucks since 95 and had diesel tractors forever. Always buy good fuel and change filters regular and add coditioner. I bought fuel while out of town. Large new looking station. Truck started acting up on the way home. When I got home I drained filter and found Lots of small particles floating in fuel. Changed filters. Primary was clogged secondary appeared clean. Truck would not crank. Pumped tank out. Fuel full of trash. Put in fresh (clean) fuel new filters and Diesel Kleen. Truck will crank and run for a few seconds then die.
I have always bought the best cleanest fuel I can find. I always fill up at one station. While out of town I filled up at a truck stop next to the interstate.
Sory for the rant but I have always taken care of my trucks with regular maintenance. Now I am going to be out a fortune because of someone selling crudy fuel that was not cheap!
Thank you for your help!

Thanks for your help!

Thank you for your help! Bad fuel was a coincidence. Had truck towed to local shop and they foung FICM to be bad. Guy replaced it and called and said "I don't know how your truck ran before but it will scream now! Truck runs great now. I have run a tank of fuel through it and drained filter to check fuel and it looks ok. Truck runs so good now I hate to sell it. But I sold my 6 Horse trailer and don't need a F-450 just to get to work and back.

I was going to throw that out there because my buddies 05 just did the exact same thing as yours. Those things are a problem this winter! What flash are you running in your truck? There seems to be a link between the VCFX5 strategy and dead FICM's.
