Learned My Lesson...
When i purchased my truck new, i declined buying the Ford ESP warranty in favor of an aftermarket extended warranty that at the time was a more affordable option at the time. So far i have never had to make a claim on it since my factory warranty has expired. Anyway on my trip to florida i noticed my right rear axelshaft seal was leaking...badly. Luckily i made the 1200 mile drive without damaging anything. I took it to Tropical Ford in Orlando, FL for it to be fixed since ive been there before for oil changes and they have always provided excellent service. Then the fun began... The warranty company wanted a complete teardown of the axel to check for other damage. They did this and i waited 2 hrs for then to authorize it. The dealer found that the axelshaft was damaged by the seal, it had wore a groove in the metal, which i saw for myself and still cant believe that it could be that bad for somthing with only 63,000 miles! Long story short, i ended up sitting at the dealer for 9 hours because the service manager had to get EACH STEP authorized by "Auto Extend". In the end they replaced the axelshaft, seal, wheel bearings and the oil (naturally). However "auto extend" does not cover "collateral damages" which included replacing oil soaked parking break shoes. The dealer handled my situation excellently and the only reason i had to wait around was that i was alone and had no one to pick me up! However they wouldn't give me a loaner unless the car had to be there overnight. I know for sure that if im gonna get an extended warranty its gonna be from the manufacturer to eliminate all that bs i had to sit thru!

Yea thats true, i did have to pay 200 for the deductible plus an hour labor (89) for the teardown which their representative told me was not covered. I declined on the brake shoes because my total out of pocket cost would have been 500! Thats my gas money the trip back home! The job all together would have cost about $700 if i had to pay it all. Luckily the job was done in one day!

I have an aftermarket extended warranty on my 04 f150, and since i got my truck i had to use it a couple times and luckly mine was just as easy to use as the Ford factory warranty. Mine is a zero deductable, and it takes care of all seals, gaskets, and fluids when needed when fixing something. its through AUL warranty company. I just last week had a rear axle seal and alternator that needed replaced both were dont within 5 hours. I didnt hang around and wait but i thought that was pretty good and i paid nothing.

You must be one of the lucky ones....AUL has tons of complaints.

I must be, either that or the dealership i use, which i have bought several cars from and use them for alot of service and have sent serveral people to them, just make it happen and take care of me. I dont know, i would think that if AUL was so bad that this dealership wouldnt deal with them cause it would just cause more problems for the dealership. Maybe it all depends on the reps for the warranty company in different areas?
Plus that complaint is almost 4 years old.
