When you adjust the clutch have someone watch the pedal travel inside , the pedal will move up or down depending on adjustment , did the same to my truck and as the clutch gets warn the pedal seems to drop when adjusting , my clutch ligns up with my brake pedal and no problems , when I replace it , it will raise the pedal . You should be fine .

Slop in clutch linkage:
The e-bar takes two nylon bushings, two felt washers and two E clips to
retain the bushings to the two clutch pivots.
C1AA7543A .. Nylon Bushing / Fits: 1961/66 F100/250 2WD / ALL 1967/79 F100/350's.
358979S .. Felt Washer / Same application as above.
97474S .. E Clip / Same application as above.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The long rod from the clutch pedal bellcrank to the e-bar has one nylon bushing on each end. Over time, these two bushings wear down, fall apart.
When that occurs, the 90 degree ends on the rod develop cracks, eventually snap off.
COAZ7526B .. Nylon Bushing / Fits: 1961/77 F100/350's / 1978's before serial # BA0,001.
These two bushings should be replaced at least every couple of years.
If the ends of that rod snap off, you're SOL...

protect the clips. And the flanged bronze bearings from the hardware store
that I reamed the holes in the plates for... etc.
I used extra thick felt that are larger in outside diameter (cut 'em 8 sided).
The extra thickness makes for a better seal when the vehicle twists etc.
When I put it back together each time I try to make it better than it was.
YMMV
I've crawled under two of these old pickups along side the road and put the
linkage back together for guys that were broke down. Both were "company
trucks" tho. The clutch had been redone by paid mechanics not the "owner".
A paid mechanic can waste time engineering silly-*** "improvements". ;)

Ok, thanks for all the help guys. I appreciate it. I found a return spring at a near buy junk yard for a whopping 2 dollars and it seems to be working fine. Also, took the truck to Monaco Ford two towns over and the spring under the dash as well was incorrectly adjusted. So seems that number dummy was not 100% correct but thats fine. As far as the clutch returning, ford dealer says clutch is catching fine and by the feeling, the cluch has a good amount of wear on it but should not need replacing too soon. The adjustment bar has tons of room for adjustment and for the nylon bushings that go on the end of the rod, i also have three of these rods that have these bushings replaced on them, Made by FoMoCo, not aftermarket from this same dealer. This place has been around for years and they still have a few parts kicking around here and there. But thanks for the help guys, its appreciated

same issue on clutch spring
is the pn for the spring on the clutch pedal mechanism under the truck is the same for a 1982 F100 4 speed manual?DTZ7523F
got same issue
pedal does not return to up position all the way and stop at brake pedal level. a little help from my foot under it and it pop back up another 1 1/2 inch. lub of all the articulations / shaft did not help so I assume that spring is worn as well.?
