door and seatbelt chime
Hey guys I have spent time on the search and haven't had any luck.
How do you do away with the seatbelt and door open chime on the '08? Dad just bought it and I figure the seatbelt chime can be disabled by a code that is in the manual. I haven't looked yet though. Is the door open chime as easy to disable as it was on the '03-'06 models?
Any help would be much appreciated!

I figured it was. I had a spur of the moment thought about it last night when I made the post. I have to haul the laptop to the top of the hill by my house to get internet....my favorite part of living hell from nowhere.
The door dinger is so annoying. It was easy to disable on my '06. I figured the engineers had to throw away their old ideas and dream up something new. Gone are the days of unplugging or beating the box under the dash. I personally enjoyed beating, made me feel like I was handing out payback I suppose.

I sometimes wonder why the key in the ignition thing is so important to car manufacturers that they would try to make it impossible for us to disable. I think they should offer us a flash to get rid of it. If the whole idea is just to protect us from locking our keys up in the truck, I'd be willing to sign a waiver that I agree to pay a locksmith to get the truck unlocked if I did! (LOL).

joining in, I have disabled my seatbelt chime per the manual took at couple of attempts but did that within a couple of hours of ownership. Been searching to disable the key chime with no luck.
I do remember the days of reaching under the dash and pulling that sucker out and stepping on that damn buzzer!

I don't think we can assume anything anymore. I did see a post that tells how to disable the key in ignition on another forum site but I don't remember which one (I'm going to go looking), but it involved removing the door panel and putting a toggle switch in to turn it off. If I can find it I'll let yall know.

Ding Dong the wicked chime is dead
There is the hard ways and there is an easy way to disable the door chime. I think that my way is the easy way.
1. Remove the lock cylinder from column.
2. Take a piece of electrical tape and cut it to fit the contact patch on the cylinder.
3. Place it on the cylinder.
4. Reinsert the cylinder into column. Open door and listen to the sound of silence or your stereo.
