Another EGR thread!

Just cleaned my EGR today. Not sure how many miles are on it but I'd say at least 15k-25k miles assuming the dealership cleaned it when they said they did.

Using Diesel Kleen and was using Rotella T 15w-40 dino. Just switched to Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme full synthetic 5w-40.

Not really expecting any differnece. More of a preventative maintainence.

Stupid question: did you replace the o rings or the gasket?

Thanks, the cleaned one looks sweet.

Yeah, Ford sells a kit that includes both o rings and the gasket. I can look up the part # if you need.

Please do, riggz. I too would like it. Seems having the part # in hand makes things go quicker and easier at the dealer. Also what did you use to clean it. Thanks

EGR O-ring kit number is 3C3Z-9P455-AB or International # 1840778C92; EGR bolts are torqued to 13 Nm.

Mark, three questions on the EGR:

1. Is there a sensible time schedule for cleaning it?

2. Replace gasket and O rings each cleaning?

3. Does driving it hard and blowing it out help keep the EGR valve cleaner?

Thanks, dc

Ahh Thanks Bismic!! Always on the ball

Great questions dano. I am going to clean mine soon. I just bought my 2003 F350 6.0 mid summer with 34k. Probably has never been done.

Thx for posting the part # bismic. Supposedly you can reuse the gaskets and o-rings but for $7-9 for the kit it's worth it.
