I doubt the ccv will effect the egr valve?
Ccv will clean up inlet to turbo.
Egr valve controls exhaust gas flow back into intake.

It looks to me like the EGR valve is just downstream of the turbo, so it most definitely is exposed to the CCV gasses.

Maybe discharging CCV gases to the atmosphere won't immensely help the EGR valve (as well as the IAT2 and MAP sensors), but it certainly can't hurt.

Nope. The EGR is directly effected by exhaust gases.

The Crankcase gases go from the valve cover to the intake inlet, thru the turbo, out the housing into the hot side CAC, intercooler, into the cold side CAC into the intake. Just guessing, but that's like an 8 feet run before the intake air even contacts the EGR.

Now, crankcase blow-by can accumulate on the intake side of the EGR, but the soot of the exhaust is what gunks it up. Especially compounded if the EGR cooler is comprimised.

It has been theorized that the oil in the ccv doesn't combust as cleanly/completely and in that regard contributes to soot in the exhaust gasses.

I had a lot of soot in my EGR valve and in the intake manifold until I did 5 things:
- re-routed the ccv
- proactively repaired the FICM (probably this helped the most, but I did not have any codes or operational problems at the time)
- installed an updated EGR valve
- began using fuel cetane boost each tank
- installed the high idle mod (really never idled much though)

One or all (probably all) contributed to a significantly cleaner exhaust gas recirculation valve a year later.

I am open to any comments (pro or con) to my conclusions above ....................

Well, I don't want to wade into this debate, but I have no regrets re-routing the CCV. I have been shocked how much oil I catch. It is about 1cup every 10K

Ive been running the CCV re routed for a couple yrs now. Just recently noticed Im getting a puddle of oil on the garage floor.
Is there anything I can check or should be worried about because of this?

Check for low spots in the tubing where it can collect. Also check your oil level, if over-full you could have an injector issue.

Thanks for the info.
Oil has been checked & not over full or smelling of fuel. It has been in the -30 most of the time up here so I may have condensation causing issues.

The oil could be condensing in the hose as well, and when warmer it is normally all exhausted as an oil/air mixture.

To anyone doing this mod, I would recommend making the hose as short as possible (to an extent). Route it below the engine and end it, and you might want a catch can to reduce the mess. The longer the line gets, the cooler the gases inside it can get before exiting. If it freezes shut due to condensation, your crankcase pressures will rise until something gives. That "something" may not be cheap.

Thanks Matt.
I have never had a problem in winter untill now. My line is run along the frame untill the front of fuel tank.
I will see if any zip ties have come loose & caused a droop.

6.0L CCV Re-route

Has anyone used any of the oil catch cans sold on eBay?
Some from $20 and up, they have a 1/2" in/out ports.
Would it be ok if a 1" bushing is installed to fit our 1" hose from crank case n back to air duct?
Would you consider bushing down from 1" to a 1/2" and back out to 1" cause a significant restriction on the system?
Thanks
2006 F250, EGR deleted w/ new oil cooler, coolant filter, oil recirculating filter, 4" turbo back pipe, CAT-ECL1 coolant, ECT tow/egr delete tune, blue spring, Rotella 5w40 + Rev-X oil AND just after my recent oil change white smokes during warm up and the whole trip taking my boy to school
My mechanic said it's a glowplug but is getting worse, it starts/idles good, lots of power and by the time I get to work smoke is gone.
Could this be also related to CCV?
Thanks for your help
