What problems can I expect using Bio-diesel

I'm starting to make contacts locally with others regarding Bio-diesel. Anyway, what problems can I expect if/when I start using Bio?

I need to find someone here in central ohio that is reputable, that I can just buy from them, so they can make some money, and keep Ol Uncle Sam out of it. If anyone can find anyone, or knows someone who knows someone, PM me. Darn Govt gets too much money anyhow.....

The only issue you will have is the BD is a good solvent. It will clean out your fuel system so you may need to change the fuel filter sooner than normal for the first while.

2x what TJ said.

I've heard people say that once they ran a tank or two of bio that they develop a fuel leak. I'm not sure if it's true or not. A lot of say they have ran bio and no problems.

I think what the is that the o-rings are already shot and probably still holding by gunk. Hence the bio being a solvent breaks that gunk up producing the leak.

How often would you change fuel filters?

Right! The fuel lines, the mechanical pump and injector o-rings are all bio compatable. Just be carefull with your fuel filters, on the cheap chinese e-bay filters the bio will dissolve the glue on the paper filtration element.

You'll know when it's time, the bio will dissolve all the gum and varnish in the tanks and lines and deposit in the filter. There's no set time as to when you need to change it, it all depends how much there is to clean out. I started using it in 01 when the tanks were still fairly clean and it took about 9 months before the filter light came on.

GOOD BD and you wont have any problems other than above stated.
BAD BD and you could be risking everything in the fuel system and turbo.
Keep in mind improperly made BD could contain: soap, lye, methanol, glycerine, chunks/particles of food, Chunks/particles of Magnesol, anything that the brewer may have dropped in there, anything that may have fallen in there.
If i were buying off someone, i'd ask to watch them do a batch to make sure it's up to my quality standards, because im nitpicky.
