I have noticed that when I am on the Highway in regen mode my turbo kicks down to less than 5 psi and I get a little bit of wierd turbo noise. Does regen adjust the vanes to provide less air to the engine so that more fuel is fed into the DPF?
I think it is a norm on the job 1s. The job 2,3s are a little different from what i have gathered. My boost is all over the place when in regen, and is a job1.
I don't get a message on my console to indicate when in regen mode....I must have the job1 program ...but my truck was built during the job 2 time frame hmmmm

I do not believe the 6.4 uses the vane turbo (s). I copied the following from a Ford web site:
Dual Sequential Turbos
The high-pressure Electronic Variable Response
Turbo (EVRT
®) spools up first to provide fast
transient engine response. The low-pressure
turbo provides added airflow at peak power
and torque.
Seems logical though, that if you reduce the air, dump more fuel, the fuel will go to the dpf and burn out the pollutants. Easy enough to say, but probably a zillion functions controlled by the computer to make it happen. AND, it seems if the exhaust valves are not in perfect sequence fuel could get into the crankcase which is a known problem with the 6.4.
Well getting fuel in my oil would be one more reason to do the DPF delete.....until then I will simply do oil changes more often than recommended ............back to this thread, it has done this drop turbo thing more than once. It is wierd it is like all turbo gauge reading is gone....I am cruising at 9 or 10 turbo on the highway with cruise on flat land and then boom I have no turbo reading at all....and it is always during a regen
