O/D tranny behind 292
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had swapped in an o/d 3+1 manual tranny behind their 292? My '64 has a T-98 4 spd/granny right now, and I have a 3+1 o/d tranny out of a '79 f-xxx with a 351M. I was just wondering if anyone knew if the o/d tranny would bolt in or if there was a kit to get it in there.
I talked with advance adapters, and they basically said "what's a 292?" I was told that if it wouldn't bolt in, then there 'might' be a bellhousing out there somewhere to make it work.
Any advice?

hp.... from what i understand that 3+1 od isn't that good of a tranny... and hard to work on besides... kno quite a few fellas around here that have them and don't like them
don't kno what u,use that '64 for but i ran across a fella years ago on this here "www" that was a machinist. he built his own bell housing to put a t-5 behind his 292 and ran it on the strip and got nice mpg's too. that 292 got 105 in the quarter with that t-5 and was basically a stock motor. t-5 made that much of a difference. (y blocks like low rpm torque, stump pulling).
from what i kno 'bout those t-5's they are basically bullet proof and easy to work on.... and there are a billion of them out there now
