I have a stock 292 in my '64 F-250 with a T-98 4spd and 4.56:1 with VERY bald street 31" tires, and my friend has a '74 Hi-boy with a 390, mild cam, headers, Carter AFB 625cfm carb, C-6, 4.11 or 4.56 gears, and 35" boggers; but the 390 has a serious off idle hesitation.
What chance do I have?
I know he'd kill me in a distance run, but between lights I think I might be able to take him If I drive right; jump the light, warm the tires, etc...
Whaddy'all think?

lololol i can't believe i answered this
With 4.56:1 rear end, a good clutch, rightous 292 and third gear start and if everything holds together ya got him beat. Top speed in my truck is about 55. I have no tach. But the same gearing. Out where I live I can and have started in third and whith one shift been at 55 in close to no time flat.
I know I haven't got a chance in hell of beating him at a distance run, but I think with a 3rd gear start I might could have a chance between lights... We're friends, and although I've never driven his truck, I do ride with him quite often, and when he really gets on it It's just about like my 292. In March, when I get my new '64 F-250/4spd/292 I'll just have to take him out on the 'vard and find out
I'll dig up this thread and let y'all know.
PS, any tips so I could win? I'll be running 28x10" mud terrains at the time, up against his 38x12.50's. How well will those 28x10's hook up on the pavement?
