Clock Spring

My truck has a slight clunking sound after start up coming from the steering column when the steering wheel returns to 12 o'clock after turning. It only does it after the truck has been sitting for awhile and then goes away. I took it to the dealer and they verfided the noise as the clock spring. The part was replaced but the dealer advised it was a characteristic of the truck and even wt a new clock spring the noise would probaly be present. I just wanted some advice on this bc past warranty work has included the steering gear & shaft assembly replaced due to a factory defect. I love my F150 and want to make sure I get all the steering issues fixed while under warranty.

I wouldn't accept the answer you got. My F-150 doesn't make the noise, and neither do either of my friends F-150s. Go to another dealer if you can. The one you're going to just doesn't want to deal with it.
