Gee I wish someone would hurry up and write a Tech Article on this subject.

Depending on HOW Complete the 460 is,
You will need:
A C6 bellhousing for a 429/460.
429/460 Exhaust manifolds for a truck.
A rear sump oil pan.
Torque convertor for a 429/460
429/460 Engine to frame mounts.
Possibly a shorter driveshaft or short tranny tail-shaft.
3-4 row Radiator
Fan shroud
429/460 truck engine bracketry.

That's all I can think of right now.

Unfortunately, the C6 bellhousing is part of the automatic transmission case. You would need a 385 series case for the C6 and use your tranny guts or a complete C6 for the 385 series engines.

And don't forget a flywheel/flex plate to fit the 460. They made two, one for internal balance the other for external balance.

After you put the engine in, any good pro suspension shop will be able to set you up with the correct springs for the extra weight.

In the past, I've found local muffler and suspension shops are sometimes very reasonably priced compared to ordering special parts from the specialty places. A good shop might be able to score you some off the shelf springs that are perfect.

Or, you could attach a bunch of helium balloons to the front bumper.

Dennis,
Are the exhaust manifolds and rear sump pan required for the '80 and up only, or the older ones too?

Older ones too.

For 2x4's you can get away without the rear sump pan & Oil pick-up BUT,You will have to install a drain plug at the rear of the deepest part of the pan instead.

My 78 F150 460 4x4 had a front sump oil pan with a side drain plug. I replaced it with a pan off a spare 460 with a front sump and rear drain plug. I think it fit because of the 6" lift (3" factory and 3" after market). However, I haven't taken it seriously off-road yet so I don't know if it'll get banged up.

If you go to a rear sump, do you have to change the oil pump too or just the pickup?

I have pictures of the oil pan on the old engine and on the truck at:
