O Rings

the turbo was just off not long ago so that part should go easy but to get at that shaft is it hard?

No this leak isn't related to any oil you could see on the pedestal. There are rebuild kits that have the oil seals but the problem is that the ring wears the other surface. In my case the turbo in my pics is the one I had a thrust bearing failure and I just checked it and the oil seal did wear into part of the center section though I beleive it is replaceable, but the intake side also wears.
See the ring inside the center hole. that is not supposed to be there. This pics is of the intake side base plate. the exhuast side is cast iron but it also has a ring wore into it.

Yes pretty much once it wears those parts it cheaper to get a rebuild turbo than to fix that one. here is the guy I recommend. He treated me very well, answered all my questions (called three times and he was very helpful) and sold me a great turbo and had no problem working with me.
if you don't see what you need call the number in his auction and talk to him
