knock, knock, knock........

My truck has a VERY loud constant knock (injector knock I assume) that is 2+ times as loud as my brother-in-law's 6.0. The truck hasn't always been this loud but seemed to get louder after the latest inductive heating flash. Are some trucks louder than others? Mine's pretty damed loud as it's loud enough to hear over the radio at idle.

The truck has also started to spew a small amount of blue grey smoke on startup in the morning. The truck will then idle with no smoke for approx 10 seconds and then start pouring out the white for however long I let the truck warm up. After starting off down the road, the white smoke stops.

Could all of this point to injector issues or do I possibly have another EGR cooler letting go?

I was having the same problems. The knocking was 4 bad injectors and the smoke was the EGR cooler.

Thanks Josh. The dealer keeps telling me that some trucks are louder then others. Mines MUCH louder though.

One things weird though, I get great mileage (15 city / 19 hwy)...

I'm just hoping that the dealer can perform injector tests without having to have it overnight due to the fact that the dealer is a great distance away.

The dealer needed to keep mine over night to check the injectors on cold start up.

I've heard the same thing from two dealers; "If there's no code, there's no problem..."

I guess I'll try out another dealer, I'm just hoping they can test the injectors WITHOUT having to keep it overnight..

Haha, the local chevy dealer told my neighbor the same thing about his duramax. They charged him 50 bucks and sent him out the door. 4 days later his truck was dead 4 hours from home. The local chevy dealer came and got it, and you guessed it, 8 brand new injectors!

i know the flash can affect the sound. my truck sounds totally different at idle depending on which tune i am running, my performance tunes are louder than the stock tune, and the hi timing files are rediculously loud.

Yea, my turbo lag is growing increasingly bad and I've got a droan/vibration happening along with some erratic shifting.

I hope it's not the turbo again as it only has 500 miles on it.

It's really hard for me to want to stay in this truck. I love it and there is no truck I'd rather be in but I'm getting tired of searching for a competent dealer.

I've been to the Dodge dealer 4 times and the GMC dealer 3. I just can't pull the trigger because I love my truck but it's getting pretty sad that it takes 5 seconds on average to hit 10lbs of boost from a stop and just as long when nailing the pedal when traveling 50. It wasn't always like that. The dealer thinks the truck is great and that I'm unrealistic in my demands.
