4.6 knocking
I have a 98 F150 scab 4x4 with a 4.6 romeo engine. Developed a loud knocking noise (similar to a rod knock). Only makes noise after thorough warm up. I suspected rod/piston/bearings but thought it would make the noise continually if it were bottom end of motor. My other thought is head gasket. No coolant in oil or oil in coolant or any of the typical white smoke and sweet smell of burning coolant. No codes. Starts and idles smooth with no noise while cold. Ideas?
