Crank, no start when Hot

Crank, no start when Hot
I have a '95 F350, 7.3L which will start just fine cold, but then will crank but not start when it's warmed up. My local tech, with 20 years under his belt, suggested replacing both the cam sensor and ICP (injector control pressure)Solenoid; I did, and am having the same problem. The oil level is correct and the oil itself is fresh, and the air filter is clean.
The first-generation OBDII port is not very forthcoming with any information when I try to extract codes; it tells me that there are none, even when I pull a sensor plug off and the check engine light goes on. My tech tells me that many 1-g OBDII's do that.
My questions are:
1. Does the fact that my vacuum pump just went out have any bearing on this? and
2. what beyond checking the IPR solenoid (information is thanks to HDGENE
Ford Senior Master Tech/Trans Tech at justanswer.com) , which regulates oil pressure, should I check into?
Thanks, and I look forward to your responses!

I'll bet the IPR orings are bad. The engine will run OK when it's cold (thick Oil). When the oil gets thinned from heat it leaks past the orings and causes a hard/no start.
BTW: You need to use a scanner that is capable of reading our diesels, OBD1 or OBD2. You may have an OBD2 connecter in the middle of the dash.

We Found The Problem!!!!
It turned out to be the wires to the IPR Solenoid had melted together and shorted out the circuit.
Thanks to all of you for your insight......the truck starts again!
Cuda_Jim, do you mean to tell me that there is actually a separate OBD II scanner for diesel's? I thought an OBD II scanner would be good for all of those vehicles with the appropriate port. If this is not the case, then can someone tell me where I can get a scanner for my diesel....I mean one that costs less than $1,000 bucks???
Thanks again!

Good find, How did the IPR melt the wires?
The scanner has to be set up for diesels. Not all of them are. I have an older Auto X-Ray that won't work on my truck. The first time I tried to scan it the engine died, scared the crap outta me. Alls good tho it fired back up. It works on everything else I've scanned, including imports.

Cuda-Jim,
I posted the last thread prematurely!! It turns out that the truck started only because the harness was still disconnected from the sensor and the computer was still in diagnostic mode!!!! It ACTUALLY turned out to be the O-rings on the IPR Solenoid, just as you and BIGBADWOLFE had suggested!!!! The truck starts and runs beautifully.
In the future, I am not going to pay anyone ANYTHING until I seek advice on this site!!!!!! KUDOS TO YOU!
By the way, are there ANY reasonably-priced Diesel OBDII scanners out there on the market, how much, and where?
Thanks again, you two!

Autoenginuity is the best scanner according to many users here. It's pricey, get it from ITP diesel, they are the cheapest:

I have an Auto Xray, it's just a basic scanner, mine does not work on diesels but they do make one that will:

I don't know much about these:

this is one of the ford dealership's scanners. an excellent choice, will do anything you can imagine on a ford car or truck including diesel, with the exception of the 6.0 and 6.4 as you need another adapter for those but for the 7.3 you would be set
