Turn Signal Switch Interchangeability

I have a 77 F100 that needs a new T/S switch. Just got back from the junkyard, but all they had today were 79 and up. Cause I had no other choice, I yanked one out of a 79 F100. Noticed that the TS switch is a little bit different than my 77 (actually it looks like a better design) Will it interchange? It only cost me 3 bucks and 5 minutes, so I'm not worried if it they're not interchangeable. But if it does, I'll have saved about 75 bucks. (I do know there was a steering column redesign in 78 or 79)

I don't think it will fit. The parts stores show two different types for 1977 and three different types for 79, and they all have different part numbers.
