V10 Exhaust System

V10 Exhaust System
I am looking into replacing the stock exhaust system with a more efficient system, such as Gibson, Borla, etc.
Any suggestions or input on expierience, performance and ease of installation?
I know the Gibson System comes with complete hardware and is bolt on, no cutting, drilling or welding required.
Thanks in advance...

I just installed the Gibson system and quite like it. The bolt on kit is as good as advertised. I had a muffler shop put mine on and it took about 25 minutes (and $80). The Gibson gives you a bit of drone around 1800 rpm, but it's not that bad. At idle there is a nice rumble and when on the throttle it doesn't sound like a rice burner at all. Overall, it seems to give me better throttle response and I am quite happy with it.

I put the Gibson system on mine about 2 months ago along with a Volant Intake. It does give off a low "drone" noise, but not too much. It is just about what I was looking for...not too much noise. I installed it shortly after buying my X so i can't speak to any change in performance. I am happy with it...put it on myself which took about 1 1/2 hours to complete. Very good fit and certainly easy to work under the truck without lifts. Cutting the hangers off the old muffler was the hardest part.

no, thats the new one. its from stans headers. so far i have done exactly the same driving since i put it on last week. and i am getting 10.7 vs 10.3 mpg. i like the sound better too. its more throaty now. not by alot though. most of the sound is about 2100-2500 rpm's. thats the flutter everyone talks about. i like it. sounds cool to me.

Since y'all are talking exhaust. Which flowmasters are quieter and still sound good? We just bought this X and it has new exhaust front to back. Looks like 3" on a V10 6.8. Flows into one muffler. 2 pipes in 2 pipes out. Sounds like crap. Kinda like one of those rice burner cab over trucks. I'm gonna have that single muffler cut out but am unsure which flowmaster series to order. I'm an AARPer so to me a little quieter is better. Exhaust is all to the right side of drive shaft so size of 2 verses 1 could be issue. Andy

if i were you, i'd get the 50 series. imo, the 40, which is what i have, is not even close to being loud. remember, any v10 will not have thetypical v8 rumble.
i used to have a ram 3500 4x4 v10. it had true dual exhaust. 2 cats, 2 1 chamber flowmaster race mufflers, and 2 pipes dumping right past the cab. still was quiet. sounded like the viper...
so, again, rip off the crappy duals, go with a 40, or 50 series flowmaster, and a nice stainless tip. then you should enjoy it for a long time. just remember to have some good quality pipe used too because your factory pipe was stainless. the junk aluminized pipe which wont last long is probably what you have on there now.
