Were on the right track...hooray! thanks for the pic's. Now a new question: Will the H/D F250 with the short and Narrow bolt pattern fit in a '1955 F100 pickup?
My guess is a yes.
Conclusion: later model tranny's which have the FORD PATTERN (short & Wide) should now fit where a older T85 tranny used to be. The length of the input shaft should be the same assuming you use a genuine Ford tranny.
Somewhat off topic: Did the T86 w/OD come with more then one bolt pattern. I'm seeing the early Tall & Narrow. Did this change to the Ford Pattern (short & Wide)?
Thanks Ron

You mentioned these:
Just to be clear this "quoted group" as far as we can determine may have used the FORD PATTERN (Short & Wide)...true?
And, this includes the "FE" engine group as well as later in-line 6's. Is there a drawing or a picture of this tranny? Perhaps someone out there in Ford land...has evidence. I do see other car manufacturers using the T85. >>> Mercury, Packard, and Studebaker come to mine.
Were talking a "T85 3-speed w/ OD which features the short & wide bolt pattern"
