what oil

hey guys, coming up on my first oil change with this truck, i was wondering what u guys think the best oil for the psd is. and what filter should i get and how many quarts does it take. 14??

I have run delo 15-40w for 250,000 miles with changes every 3-4000. Walmart has motorcraft filters, they are good. 14 quarts is right on.

I prefer Amsoil in mine and since i beat the livin heck out of it the oil gets changed every 3k miles (run it for 5k miles in dads stock trucks).

IN MY OPINION DO NOT BUY FRAM, as for oil, like all the guys above said.

I agree, fram uses cardboard where others use metal.

fram=bad. baldwin/donaldson=good. used to take the walmart/motorcraft route. rotella 15w40. sometimes i use mobile. i work for CAT and their oil is rebadged mobile. i can get it cheap.

oil- delo,motorcraft, rotella dino or synthetic

filters- motorcraft, wix/napa gold, donaldson, fleetguard, baldwin

Any one I ever use Luber-Finer products? I think they are made by champion labs.

luberfiner is a big name in heavy duty filters and seem pretty good. not sure who carries them though.

We have a farm supply store nearby that handles them & I think they were very reasonably priced. I'll have to take a closer look at price if I can be sure of the quality.

Just a heads up, I've seen fleetgaurd split at the seam where the side rolls into the top plate, might have been a bad run otherwise have not seen anything else go bad, and it was limited to only one style of filter, not ours.
