how to disable passenger window switch

Can anyone tell me a easy to disable the passenger window control? Being a 2 door supercab, I do not have the "window lockout" button on the drivers control. I would like to be able to control the passenger window only from the drivers side.

The problem is, my 2 dogs will put there paws on the passenger arm rest to look out the window. Occasionaly, they step on the window down button. Once he stepped on the window up button, while window was down and would have gotten his neck stuck in the window had I not pushed the driver control to stop the movement of the window.

Thanks!

Pop the door panel off or the switch out and disconnect the wires from the back then put the switch back in.

Also, if you are going to do that, you can wire yourself a switch and mount it somewhere on the dash so you can control the window.

Great, for some reason I thought that if I disconnected that switch in the passenger door, that the window would not operate at all.

I'm pretty sure that if you disconnect the switch that the window will not work at all. I havent done a newer vehicle so I'm not sure if that has changed. I used to probe the constant power wire to the particular switch and disconnect that wire from it. THis would allow the drivers control to operate the other windows.

dog issues

I have the same problem with my dog rolling up the window and the biggest problem I don't have control of the window just am able to stop it from rolling up anymore. And not having a window lock button if I leave her in the car with the air on she can roll down the window and as I'm in the store roll it back up on herself. Being a two door there only needs to be 1 set of controls. And I could almost use just one button with a little 3 way toggle switch like on the side mirrors. Most of the time it's either windows up or down. I sometimes will have one up and one down if there's a strong cross wind.

The best thing to do would be to run a rocker switch on your dashboard and interrupt the power to the window switch when the dogs are in the truck

Could you possibly make a cover to go over the switches to prevent accidental access? Crude, but effective.

If you unplug the switch the window will never work. But if you snip the power wire shown in this PDF located inside the passenger door, the window can still be operated from the driver's door switch

If he cuts the wire, Any passenger in his truck will never be able to operate the window.

I wonder if you got a crew cab driver door switch assembly it would plug right in and then you could use a lock button

Buy a replacement switch off ebay or get one from the wreckers or something....disconnect switch on door...plug in replacement switch and leave hanging inside the door........voila.....window still works from drivers side....and passenger side armrest area still looks good, without a hole from just removing the window switch.
