Flash-to-pass lights brighter than hi-beam

to get the highs and lows on you want a brightbox:

But I'm not sure it's such a good idea cause it produces more heat in the headlight having both beams on. Here is Ford's bulliten for F-SD:

hmmmmm maybe I am seeing things. But it makes sense. When I hit my high beams pointing at a wall, it didn't look any brighter than using the flash to pass feature. Dang if I know. but I would like brighter, more covering lighting when I have the high beams on. Saftey is the most important. And seeing at night is sure safer. I just hope the lenses won't melt.

When you would use the flash to pass the highs and fogs would work at the same time but if you turned the highs on the fogs would go out. Now that you did the mod it's going to look the same no matter if it's on flash to pass or if the high beams are on. If you still want more light look into getting some auxiliary lights like O1COBRA suggested. I got a set of lights to add to mine as soon as I get my light bar painted.

If you are going with something for the high beams, make sure you get an actual "driving light" beam. Get some decent lights too, the cheapo lights won't put out half the light that a quality set will. My Hellas use the same bulb and wattage as my cheap Autozone set did, the difference is amazing though. Even though they have a broader spread, they are still brighter where they light.
I too was thinking that the highs and lows came on together on these for FTP mode, maybe not. It's not impossible just because it's the same bulb, my '99 works that way.

The flash to pass mode powers both the low beam filiment and the high beam filiment at the same time. Normally when you switch on the high beams the low beam filiment goes off. My wife drove my Bronco one time and held the flash to pass on for a long time. One of the bulbs overheated and shattered. The broken glass is still in the light housing because I didn't want to remove the entire housing to dump out the pieces.

Something else to say is do not PUT THE LARGE Hi intensity light bars on any truck.
They are unfocused and blind oncoming drivers no matter if mounted high or low.
If you use these, only off road.
On public highways they must be covered by law.
To brighten up a stock head light, look for bulbs that are speced about 25% brighter but still US DOT approved.
And yes, driving lights must not be uses with high beams on, by law again.
This is why they do not come form the factory with that function.
Good luck.
