Snow Plowing with a 2005

Hi everyone,
Paul the newb here. Did a search, found nothing at all.
Does anyone plow with their 05?
I've got an old Meyer electric hydraulic I'm thinking of fabricating a plow mount for the front bumper. Shadetree garage dweller with a miller 180 is my experience level.

Thoughts? ideas? tips? tricks? Pics???

thanks in advance.

The biggest thing I'd be worried about on that truck would be the weight of the plow on the front. The factory springs are pretty soft and I'd imagine it would sag quite a bit. Hopefully you have the tow package with the extra trans cooler since that will help with the heat from heavy plowing. I'm guessing this is just for your own driveway and not to do it commercially? I personally wouldn't use my F150 to plow commercially.

I only plow my own driveway...1 mile total, and I use my UTV with a plow so far. I am planning to upgrade but will install the plow on my 3/4ton and save my F150.

I have been plowing my driveway since I bought my truck in 2005. Using a lightweight plow (Western Suburbanite). I was told that the truck is not designed to handle a heavy plow. For residential, the light weight plow is great.

Yes this would be for my driveway only, although I do have a commercial property I would be very tempted to "help" the really real plow guys, or clean up their messes.

I've been to the Fisher, Meyer, Western, etc sites and "searching" for my plow all they will give me are the lightweight "plastic" ones. It's funny the old Fisher Speedcast plow on my 1982 Jeep CJ is custom built for that vehicle, 6 foot 8" of steel.

Even with the lightweight plows suggested for my truck, the websites suggest 650lbs of ballast in the bed!!!

,,,anyways, what I'm really searching for are close up pics of the frame mounts.

Here is my 05 with a plow, I only do my drive and one of my rentals that is next door. 3 years now and I LOVE it!

Mine is the POLY plow and I was thinking about a cap to help the need for the ballast weight

Those old skool meyers are heavy pieces of garbage. I plowed with them commercial and they were not durable for their heavy construction.

2.) The moldboard rots out where the supports are welded and constantly require patches.
