1966 Moldings:

I got my truck painted and have put my side moldings back on.I have encountered two problems now!The first is that all the moldings look straight up to the hood piece. The hood molding sits down about a 1/4 of an inch.I used a rust free hood from a custom cab 1965.I can't raise the hood anymore at the back because it is level with the cowl..The other problem is the cowl moiding rubs the the door as it is opened,so I had to slide it forward some.Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks,Russell

Rusty, The molding clips have nuts on the inside. You should be able to loosen them and adjust the installed molding.:-)

John, I know about the nuts I had all the molding off of my truck. You can get some movement but not much.I thought the holes might be off on this hood some, but they should be the same!As for the cowl moldings I can not understand why the clearance is so close to the door as it opens! Thanks,Russell

This may be a silly question, but did you put the tapered part of the cowl moulding towards the door?

Russell, I just measured the holes in my hood, which conveniently has the mouldings removed at present. The rearmost hole is centred 1 1/16" up from the bottom of the hood and the frontmost is 3/4". Are yours about the same?

Eric,I will take my moldings off and measure to see what I got.Maybe I have the clips on backwards.Would this cause the molding to be off-center????Thanks,Russell

I had the same problem with the moldings rubbing the rubber seal of the doors I guess the new rubber is thicker than the old. did you drill new holes for the hood crome? Rich

I just read your message again, I see what the problem is the new hood holes were probably drilled wrong at the factory or from a different factory that does happen. anyways if you have rubber washers between the clips and the body I would take them out that way you could move the coul down 1/8 and the hood crome up an 1/8 its worth a try ......Rich

I don't think so, Russell. The hood spear is centred over the holes. Let's see if the holes are drilled correctly.

I had the same problem. I very carefully enlarged the holes to get a little extra play and made the adjustment. Also used bigger washers on the inside. Worked for me.
