Is an exhaust manifold leak something that can cause problems?
Hi everyone, back again with another question.
The O2 sensor and Seafoam fixed my milage so far but I have noticed I have an exhaust manifold leak thats been getting worse slowly.
Will this cause any problems long term?
I can replace it soon but its chilly here in Minnesota so if I can wait a while that would be cool?
Thanks for any info,
Russell
Hi,thanks for responding!
It's above the second plug toward the front of the truck on the left side.
I was worried about the exhaust valves ect..hopefully it's not going to cause problems there.
Thanks for any info you can offer!
The leak would have to be a little more than jus a crack in the iron to cause a temperature issue with the exhaust valve at that point. Jerry brazed a crack in an F 350 that was open to access on top pf the manifold about two years ago and it's still in place. Caution, the truck is used only to haul hay/trailer on the farm and he is very good with the brazing torch. Don't know what the longevity factor would be on the highway with a constant, everyday use thermal cycle.

You can get a replacement manifold somewhere like 1-a auto parts for between $50 and $75 for most of these trucks. If you drive it everyday it was a matter of how long I could stand the gushing sound that the leak made until I fixed it.
