95 (late Year) OBDII "Link Fail"
95 Ford Explorer XLT 3.0 V-6 Auto 137K
Late year build because it has the OBDII system in it.
My "check engine" comes on about 5 seconds after start and stays on the whole time the ignition key is on.
Autozone reader gets "Link Fail" on every attempt to read the codes.
I'm new to OBDII, where should I start to troubleshoot?

If your Explorer is a 95 like mine I'm betting it doesn't have one. I did the same thing when I got a CEL code, but I don't think they started putting ODII into Explorers until the 96 year, the dummy port was just included with the redesign in '95. On my 95 Explorer it is OBD I. Look under the hood near the drivers side firewall, next to the PCM should be a plug the says ECC Test, that is where you want to put a code reader. If the Autozone is nice they will scan your OBD I codes also. Hope I helped.
