Help.. 95 A/C Electrical Problem
Help.. 95 A/C Electrical Problem
I have a 95 XLT and the A/C doesn't work at all. Compressor does not engage, and is not locked up. Using a test light, it looks like I'm not getting any power to the plug on the compressor. My Chilton manual says there is only 1 fuse (#18) related to the A/C system. My fuse is good. I was hoping there would be another fuse or relay that could be the problem but according to my manual there aren't any others.
Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.
thanks!

I believe this system has a low pressure cut out switch, look on the low side line or on the accumulator, unplug the electrical connector and jump out the two electrical plugs if hte compressor comes on the AC system is low on referigerant, or a bad low pressure switch. I believe the switch can be replaces without evacuating the AC system. Be carefull, good luck.
Yep, after some additional investigation, I realized that you have to go through the low pressure switch before getting juice to the compressor. I jumpered the switch and the compressor kicked in. I'm assuming it's really low on freon (didn't have my guages with me). Normally when they get low on freon the compressor will at least kick in, but not this time.
