noise question
Hello Everyone,
I just recently purchased a 2002 F150 4x4, 4.6L auto, with 38000 miles. The truck is like new and drives great. The only thing I've noticed is intermittened squeaking when you slow down to stop. The squeak sounds to be rotating faster than the wheels, so after reading various threads I thought I would check the u-joints. I felt for movement in the driveshaft and it seems the rear of the transmisson moves an awful lot from side to side, and I was wondering if this is normal? The ujoints seem to be tight. Also jacked front up to spin wheels to check for noise, seemed fine. Thanks for any input.

noise question
Hello Cleeves,
Thanks for the reply. I just went back and checked the movement and it was'nt as much as I previously thought.Seemed like alot if you look at the whole thing but if you focus on something in particular it moves about 1/4 max. Don't know if that made any sense or not. I tried to compare the movement against something stable such as the cross member, then got a better sense of how much movement there was. I'm going to keep a close ear to the noise to see if it changes or increases. I purchased a warranty on this truck but I don't know how good it is, seems they word them to cover what they want to. thanks again
