Slowly losing gas/diesel milage

Hey everybody, long time no talk, the season is starting to slow down for me so I thought I would look up the forum again.

problem, slowly losing milage on my 95 PSD was at 20/19 and now getting around 17-18.

just took my truck to the shop for a glow plug (one was shot) hard to start on Canadian mornings.

Kwik you might have an opinion or suggestion, but I do have a question for you, Kwik, how would I know if an injector is going or to test an injector myself/and replace the part.

Hey DYDF250, i occationally have the same problem. I start loosing mpg and notice a little smoking on cold mornings. I have discovered that if i reset the brain, it stops smoking and gets back to 19 or 20 mpg. You know- the disconnect the batteries for 15 minutes thing. Dont know if this is your problem but it works for me.

I wish that I could get that good on my mileage. I get 13 at best. 1997F-350 has a good point. How old are your filters?
Injectors will fail by producing an engine miss, or a severe engine knock are a couple of symptoms.

when did yall switch to winter blend or strait #1 fuel? thoose numbers are about what you will loose on winter fuel. but again like 1997 said filters and oil can play a part of it also.

Colder weather alone will decrease your mpg's and going to winter grade fuel will cut it back even more. That might be an additional cause besides the filters. Cold weather on regular 15-40 cuts it down even more. Gotta love winter!

It sounds the same as an engine miss on a gasser. One cylinder drops out. RRRRRRR_RRRRRRR_RRRRRRR_RRRRRRR with a rocking motion from the engine assembly

When was the last time you changed the AIR filter? Don't believe the idiot gauge (if you have one). If Over 10-15K on last change I would go ahead and change it. Even a little dirt or stuff on filter will make a difference on fuel mileage.

Hmmmm...sounds like what my truck is doing. Getting poor milage as of late, how does a cheapo determine if they have a duff injector? I don't have to coin to do a pop test of all of 'em.
