300 to 302 trans?

Will the transmission from a 300 6cyl. Work with a 302 v-8? I have an 86 f-150 with a 300 6 cyl. How hard would it be to go v-8.

The bell is the same, as far as I am aware, the convertor will work as well, the flexplate may even be the same, I'm sure someone will pipe up on all of this.

The flexplates are different. You will need to get a 302 flexplate. They do have the same number of teeth but the 300 will be more flat like.

don't swap!! the 300 is a better engine. don't let the term v8 make you think the 302 is better.

The hardest part is changing the motor mount perches on the frame. You need v8 perches.

Keep or rebuild your current I6 motor. It generates more torque and just about the same in horsepower as the 302. Believe me, I have two trucks that have had the swap done and I wish everyday that they both still had that good old I6 motor in 'em. Torque is much more important in a truck! I would even guess that it even gets better gas mileage but as to that, I am not positive.
