mass air convertion or comp chip? what next?
I have a 1992 Ford Full-size Bronco w/302 engine, automatic transmission E4OD.
I recently rebuilt both engine and trans (trans has shift kit) and with 4:11 gears. Engine was rebuilt for performance. After all the work done on the block and heads, I am not getting the hp/performance out of my Bronco. Some have suggested to change to mass-air vs. it has speed density or get a computer chip (Diablo) to 'wake up the engine'..
please advice what to do...?
Below is a list what has been done to the block, heads & extras <O></O>
Heads are E7s;
-semi-ported (bowl work)
-stainless steel valves
-intake valve=1.94
-exhaust valve=1.60
-roller rocker arms = 1.5
Block
-zero deck
-balanced & blue printed
-KB pistons, flat-tops (Keith Black pistons – hypereutectic)
-ARP rod bolts (automotive racing products)
-high pressure oil pump
-Clevite rod & main bearings
-(true) double roller timing chain
*Cam is a ford racing cam, M-6250-E303, roller hydraulic roller tappet
*power pulleys
*BBK headers w/dual exhaust
*4:11 gears
*automatic transmission E4OD – shift kit
*throttle body spacer
*intake has been ported slightly

Well i know this has been looked at before but my two cents is you need 1.6 or 1.7 rockers to start....the cam is made for high en performance becasue its a mustang cam....I would go with a crane they make real good tourque as well as it wasnt made for speed density. After changing those I think you will be happy with the performance. Now the cam isnt bad but it will require MAF and your going to be working in a higher RPM range witch means your stall isnt going to be stock....So consider that, the cam isnt right for a truck but i think with a MAF conversion and a tQ change you would be better off. but i reccomend a cam change definately.
