iridium spark plugs?

Heya fellas, I just installed the K&N 77 series high-flow intake kit, which is badass by the way, and I was thinking about changing out my factory spark plugs with some iridium plugs. I have a 2004 F150 FX4 5.4, and the only info I have about the factory spark plugs is the info I got by searching the threads. Do they even make iridium plugs for the 04-05 F150s? If so, are they worth it and where can I get them? Thanks.

Hi, well, I don't think I would do that one. First, changing 8 coil over plugs is not a morning job, unless you are a pro. Two, these plugs are pretty special, and I don't think anyone is going to make them, at least not yet, with the 100,000 mile between tune-up thing. and finally, I think that this would be one of those gray areas that the dealership might be a bit cranky if you had any kind of warranty work that even remotely involved the plugs/ignition/valves/pistons/coils, well you get the idea.

Maybe after the warranty runs out?
Also, with the sophisticated electronics, I have a feeling I will be putting stock plugs back in it when I do plugs, eventually.

Too many other cool mods you can do with less risk/work and better payoff in performance.
Well anyway that's my take.
Have fun, whatever you do.

nickp333, I am just curious why in the world you would want to change your spark plugs?I do not think it would be of benefit.Chris is absolutely right about warranty concerns.I have had so many problems with high performance plugs over the years, I would not even consider changing plugs unless I developed problems, after the warranty is over.Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice, Chris. I don't think I want to tackle it either, especially if my warranty is in question. Ruckus, I looked into the iridium plugs because I heard they were a nice thing to have. Also, my buddy bought a set for his 04 Chevy yesterday. So I guess it was more of a "monkey see, monkey do" sort of thing for me, but I didn't buy any. As far as performance mods, right now I have the Superchips microtuner (Hi-Performance program), K&N 77 series intake kit, and a flowmaster. What other performance enhancing products are out there? Thanks again for the advice guys.

Well, it looks like you have hit the easy/cost effective mods already. Still not happy about the power? Or like me, just like messing with it?
If it's more acceleration you want, I gonna have to recommend gears. Since you have the 4x4 it would cost more than I would want to spend, but that's the best power mod short of a supercharger.

Of course you could go underdrive pullyes and/or electric fans, but besides much work and bucks, there can be some downsides depending on where you drive it. Search for underdrive to see some great posts on both of these mods.

How big are your tires? Are you messing with them at all?
Must be something else that would be fun to mess with on your truck.

Well my truck runs great, has a lot of power, and has awesome acceleration. I just like messing with stuff. I still have the factory tires, and I do have the Skyjacker leveling kit which is also nice. I prefer to keep my factory rims because I like the looks of them and they're easy to keep up. I'm looking into maybe getting a set of 285 x 60s (which is comparable to a 32"???) if they will fit. I just wish more companies made tires for 18s.

I know what you mean about the rims. I have the Lariat rims on my STX and I like them better than any aftermarket rims for under 1600 bucks.

I don't see which truck you have anywhere in profile/gallery, etc. Do you have the 32 tires now? My truck came with the 30.1 and I moved up to 30.5 inches when I went from 17 to 18. When I was looking at tire size I did see a lot more choices than most people were saying were out there.
Prices from 60-300 bucks...
