Is there a way to disable the backup beep on an `05 Lariat. Not the beeping from the sensors on the back bumper, but the beeping that happens anytime the truck is in reverse. Beeping like some big trucks have. Im sure there is a way to disable, it seems as though its sharing the alarm horn, but not for sure. Any help? Thanks

 

It sounds like someone added a back-up alarm, if so it is prob located somewhere on or near the back bummper. Locate the back-up alarm and disconnect it!
If you are talking about the back-up sensor in the bumper, just turn the switch off on the dash. (remember you need to turn it off ever time you start the truck.

 

It seems as though its part of the alarm, got the truck friday new from the dealer. Wondering if anyone else has had this, heard this, wanted to get rid of this.

 

OK let's see if I understand. When you put the truck in reverse, you hear an alarm! Did you make sure your tail gate is up, and that there is nothing in the "sensor zone" like a trailer hitch. Did you try turning off the back up sensor on the dash? Push in the button and a yellow light come's on, yellow light on = back-up sensor off! If you have done all of this, and there is still an alarm when in reverse, I still say you have an add-on back up alarm!

 

ok, must be add-on backup alarm, the audable alarm is outside of the vehicle, as to let others know you are backing up

 

Then all you have to do is locate the alarm and disconnect it!

 

Go back to your stealer they will shut off the back up beep's for free

 

Mine does it too, and I don't have an alarm. I thought maybe the black sensors on the bumper had dirt or a film on them cuasing the sensor to send a false signal.

 

Galpin Ford in Van Nuys, CA (largest ford edaler in the world) adds some "ultra-guard" or something like that, after markey alarm to every vehicle, and it is an option you can't remove when you buy the car. They just won't remove it form the vehicle. It's also 400 bux...thats how they kick you!

Everyone I know with that alarm system has a back up, audible beep that is emitted whenever the car is put in reverse, in order to alert pedestrians and stuff that you're backing.

I purchased my 05 F150 Lariat from Pasadena Ford here in So Cali with just the Ford factory alarm, and I have no beeping.
