OBD I or OBD II??

I've got a 95 4.0L with a 16 pin Data Link Connector under the dash. Like you, I have no OBD2 sticker under the engine compartment, but my truck is OBD2 because I can scan it with my code reader. Don't really know what to suggest. I just tried my reader and it worked. I don't think they'd install a 16 pin DLC if it wasn't OBD2.

There have been a couple threads about this, some people with a '95 Ranger have had trouble pulling codes because neither type of scanner (OBD-I/OBD-II) would work. IIRC, these people instead needed to obtain a special scanner for their vehicles. You can probably track down these threads by doing a search of this forum.

Rangers made after Jun of 1995 are standard OBDII compliant. From Jan to Jun, they are OBDII and most of the code readers will not work. My 95 (March issue) was a real challenge to find a scanner. I finally settled on the Auto XRay which works fine, but it has to be set on "generic" OBDII. I'm pretty sure Ford only did this on Rangers and maybe Broncos. The majority of the 95s are OBDI. Hope this helps.

Hold on, Don't jumper anything until you know what you have. Your profile says you have a 2017 F-150 & if that's what your talking about using a jumper on Don't do it!!! You need a proper scan tool to Safely query a vehicles computers/controllers.
