'96 has OBD-II computer so the only way to scan it is with a scan tool.

You have two options.

1. Go out and spend $100 for a scan tool.

or

2. Go to an autoparts store (like Autozone) and they will pull your codes for free and tell you what they mean.

I have a pdf file describing how to pull codes without a scan tool. Seems quite simple. Also a html file with codes. Can email to you if you want. Tried doing it thru your profile but couldn;t paste into the message. I need an email address to send to using my normal email program. Gotta work 3rd shift. Can do tomorrow. (Its 9:15PM here now.)

I'm sorry, I didn't even look at the specifics of the PDF file I have. It pertains to the EEC-Iv control system. If yours is OBD-II then it won't work.
