lift kit installation cost?

Hey guys, got my lift kit and now I'm ready to have it installed. I'm gonna do the extended brake lines myself so how much does it cost for a shop to put in the coils, shocks, rear blocks, bracketry, and then alignment? I just want to know what kinda price I should be paying. It's a 2wd f150 btw

thx

Why not just do it yourself? It's not that hard. It's difficult for us to tell you how much it'll cost, check around w/ some shops and ask for estimates.

All you need is basic hand tools and some jacks.

I've contemplated doing it myself but business is just too busy right now (plumbing). I can't afford to take even a day off let alone a few right now. And my weekends are consumed by the g/f. If I had access to a lift I'd be more willing to take on the project. I'm having trouble finding shops near me willing to do the work, alot of guys seem real hesitant about it. So as soon as I find one for a reasonable price I'm gonna go with it. thanks

I'm gonna guess that labor is about 8-9 hours at most...@ what...65 an hour? It's expensive man. On my other truck I did it in steps, put the rear brake line on (extended one). Then put the rear blocks on and drove the truck w/ the rear lift in. Then I put the front brake lines on, and then took it off the road for a day to put the front suspension in. You don't need a lift, just some jack stands and a jack or two. Basically you take the tires off, and with a jack under the suspension arm you put just enough to hold it up, no tension on the spring. You remove the shock and then the coil spring comes out in 2 bolts. You remove the end bolt on the radius arm and the pivoting bolt on the suspension arm, remove brake caliper, 2 bolts, and secure it on the upper spring perch, and that whole side of the suspension pops out. Remove the brackets, install new ones, re-assemble and then do the same for the other side. Now this is a very basic explanation, but its an overview. Depends on how much lift and what kind of kit you use (extended radius arms/standard arms w/ drop brackets...or even leaf/blocks in the back).

Sounds like a good oppurtunity to teach her about trucks, or have her be the tool wench!

Just look at the manufacturers website. They usually have them in pdf format. The carton with the parts should have a paper copy too. If your manufacturer doesn't have them online, try a different manufaturer's site. The kits are very much the same when it comes to installing them. Have fun.

That's off skyjacker's website, you need adobe acrobat to read it

You can try going to skyjacker.com, products, lift, enter the vehicle information and click on their link see if it works.
