Need your opinions on these mods for my 2000 Lightning motor
I'm thinking about buying some P&P heads off a 01GT Mustang. I'm not sure what cams to use yet, but I'm leaning toward these:
2770 Hot Street/Strip Supercharged Camshaft. Duration @ .050 232/242 Lift .550/.550 LSA 113. , 3.27-4.10 gears, 2000+ stall converter, rough idle. Needs exhaust. PI head $549
I also plan on getting the 6 or 8# pully and the Accufab big single blade t/b. I also have a Pro-M universal maf (the big one) but I'm not sure if it will work. I already have flowmaster exauhst and I want headers but I'm not sure if Long tubes will fit my setup. What type of power do you think I will make with what I listed? My goal is to make 500rwhp on stock internals but I would be happy with 450 What do you guys think? Thanks
i think 430 to 450 rwh is very possible on a stock block , however i have seen engines go at 400. its all in the tune of the chip.
i went with a 6lb pulley, diablo chip, cai, and spark plugs denso and am around 405 rwh and i will be close to 425 to 435 when my blower is returned from porting.
i will have the same amount of boost as a 8lb blower pulley will give.
i believe the single blade throttle body will not give you that much improvement the money may be better spent on other mods.
just my 2cents

I was wondering about the t/b. I might use the t/b money on a blower port.
you will get alot more out of the blower port for sure , i have heard there is a 5-7 hp gain on L's with already 450 hp on the t/b and alot less on lower hp L's.
blower porting can add 22 to 35 hp on a stock truck , but the same can almost be obtained by going up 2 lbs on your pulley
ie. 4 lb pulley to a 6 lb pulley
i am worried i may have too much boost for a stock block now after having mine ported

i dynoed with only the cai and the 6 lb before the chip and the porting at 373rwhp, 479rwtq
not bad. I want 450/570 but I'm still not to sure what will get me there or above.
that is about the max the stock rods will take i am worried even at my power level, i have seen rods go thru the side of the block with less. in fact saw my friend in a 01 L throw a rod this weekend with the same mods except he is spraying nos.

buy a kenny bell supercharger. $3000.00 160 extra horeses over stock. and takes 3-4 hours to install. there is a guy on the f-150 online web site that just did it. big dollars but you will have your 500+ at the rear wheels. get a good chip buy a tuner and it would be even more horsies. i am saving up for one as we speak.
sounds good but at that power lever you will want to upgrade your rods, stock pieces are cast and manley after market rods are forged steel. even with a safe tune there is a big risk in running 18 to 2 lbs boost.
The rods are 895 or something close to that and is a great upgrade if you can install them yourself. it is expensive to have these pieces installed! more than the cost of the rods usually.
a built short block with forged rods, crank, pistons and rings is usually what people are installing before the go with the kb.
you dont have to but hey ask some of the other L owners over on f-150 or nlloc especially if you are going to run full boost alot and unless you plan to drive around with 100 octane in your tank all day. this upgrade may also require fuel delivery system upgrades and headers
