Pre-turbo pyrometer probe install.

Pre-turbo pyrometer probe install.
When installing a clamp on EGT probe pre-turbo, should I be concerned with metal filings falling into the pipe and going through the turbo? Should the pipe be taken out to be drilled?
Also, how far from the turbo should the probe be installed? Which side is drilled easier and from above or below?
Thanks!
Matt
I am hoping to use this kit with single pillar pod.

No need to worry about shavings, 99% of them fall in your face so wear safety glasses. Don't take the pipe off, just drill it, then start the truck and IDLE the engine for a minute. Any shavings that MAY have entered the pipe will blow right past the turbine blades. Drill the hole about 1-1 1/2" after the exhaust manifold on the bottom of the pipe on the driver's side. It's the easiest. Look at my pics for my installation.
