Power to manual windows???

Here's a question. I have an 87 F-150 XLT Lariat w/ 5.0. I wondered if anyone has changed their power windows to manual windows? I hate power windows, and both motors aren't working (apparently this has been a probl. for the previous owner, since the truck came with a boxful of window motors). what do i need to convert my power to manual windows? thanks for any help!

ok im 15 i kinda understand what is ogig on in windows when goign up and down. why not just take the assembly off another truck of that same year or 88 or 89 and just bolt it on only thing ul need to do is cover up the switchs/ or jsut egt new inner door pannels. seem lieka pritty strigth forward job jus leave th power wires inside they unplug? i think

Get a pair of manual regulators from the junkyard, any 87-91 F series truck or big Bronco will work just fine. Possibly other years but I'm sure of these. The handles, of course, and a pair of "manual door panels. That's it.
Be aware that the regulators are held on by big aluminum rivets. You just knock out the center "pin" with a small punch and drill out the rivets. Most folks tend to use short 1/4" bolts and nuts to replace their regulators. The right way is to use new rivets. You can find the jumbo-size rivet guns and rivets if you hunt, but it's easier to pay one of the guys at the local Ford body shop to pop them in for you. I wouldn't bother with the wires, leave them in the bottom of the doors, that way you can keep your power locks if you like. You'll need to cut holes in your "new" door panels for them though.

If it was me, and I wanted to switch, I would just get the whole doors. A hell of a lot easier to put 2 new doors on than to F around in there. If you don't care about color matching, that is DEFINATELY the easiest. If you do care about color..... Have fun.

I wouldn't try swapping a whole door - aligning them can be a REAL pain and an exercise in patience.

If you replace the motors with decent remans with good warranties, you shouldn't have any more trouble out of them.

LOTS easier to change doors than to work with the crap inside of them. I have never had any trouble getting them aligned. Cheers.
