Power vs manual windows

On my 88, the doors are beat to death. It has power windows, and power window doors are rather hard to come by. How hard is it to convert manual doors to power? There is a van in a local junkyard with manual windows.

When you say your doors are beat, do you mean the shells/sheet metal are rusted or damaged? Or the condition of everything dealing with the doors are shot?

If your 88 doors are in good mechanical working condition ( as far as the power windows go ) . Get the good replacement doors and then transfer everything over. The door shells should be the same. I don't remember if the parts are bolted in or rivoted in. If they are, you might have to drill some rivots out to remove some of the old parts.

Otherwise like vettex2 mentioned you can also convert it over to power windows with an aftermarket kit. But these kits can be expensive or poor quality. So if you can reuse the factory stuff you might be better off.

Another option is to adapt a set up from another newer vehicle using junk yard parts. But doing this will require some fabrication.

Yeah, I wasn't overly clear on that. I've seen some vehicles that have quite different door shells for manual and power window applications, but I didn't know if the E series was that way. If the mounting points all are there for the power window stuff then I'll just get the more readily available manual doors.
Both of my doors have had the mirrors ripped off, and have had at least two different styles of mirrors.
I'd also like to upgrade to tip-out windows on the side and rear doors, so I may end up stripping all the doors off that thing.
