Question power window motor runs, but won't move window

on my 89 ford f-150, the power window motor will run, but won't move the window. i can push the window down with my hands also. if the window is up, and yes it will stay up, and i hit the up button, the motor will run, but the window will slide down into the door. the window will go up, but only if i help it. any ideas? thanks in advance.

The gear is stripped that the motor turns. It cost like 30 bucks at the zone for my '87.

This window motor has three small cylindrical rubber type blocks inside the gear unit, they take up the cushioning of the motor going up and down, the rubber blocks break up in time, then the window motor does not do its job.

You can replace the parts with 3/8" ball bearings available at any hardware store.

I'm with pfogle, the gears are blown out. Same happened to mine. I guess I got hosed paying $70 at the junkyard for the whole motor/gearbox/arm unit.

oh well

I guess check Autozone first

I have that big gear always break on my "free warrantied replacments". I pay $50 once and get them for free forever from O'Reilly.

My passanger side is the one that keeps breaking!
