1985 F-800 Fabco

Hi. I thought I would share a few pics of my 1985 F-800 bucket truck with a Fabco 4x4 drive train. 7.3 diesel. Air brakes and air select for 4x4 and range and an Allison auto trans. And those tires!

That is one solid piece of nostalgia there. Would be a lot of fun in a blizzard.

Fun in the cab maybe but I dunno how fun it would be up in the bucket.

Guess it's not a 7.3L, but a 7.8L according to the tag on the valve cover.

Either way that means it's a newer engine? It says 1990, so I guess it's at least that new. Good news as far as I'm concerned. It's not like it's a collectable truck.

I was told by the place I bought the truck from that it came from an electric company. They bought 2 of them but the other one had normal tires and duals on the back.

I was going to say... A 7.3 would be a GUTLESS TURD in that truck more than in a pickup

the 7.8 is actually a good running engine.
pulls 25 ton total truck/trailer/load weight in the single axle with a 5 speed and 2 speed rear with no problems at all.

It seems to run pretty well to me. Plus I believe it I was so inclined I could turn it up a bit. You could order engines with different HP ratings. The truck goes 70 on the highway no problem, although highway miles with it are probably over and I only did it that one time because I didn't know any other way to get it home from where it was. Too tall to put on my trailer at over 12 feet as it sits. I keep to secondary roads now.
