Programmers/tunes

hey everyone, so I recently purchased a ts 6 position chip for 170$ new and noticed a big difference in power but also a big drop in mpg. I also have an edge evolution tuner so my question is: is it a good idea to put the ts chip position on stock and then use the edge programmer to program the economy setting on top of that? So basically I would be using a programmer and a chip.. or should I just take out the ts chip altogether?

more power = more fuel burned

Keep off the skinny pedal to increase MPG

Edge has been known to mess things up, use the TS
Cant use both that I know of.

So the lowest hp setting will yield the best mileage? I usually keep it on 75 but there is also a 50

Not necessarily. The more efficiency delivery of power to the ground yields best mileage. The biggest variable factor is going to be the pressure under your right foot. Send it to get custom tunes based on your truck's build. Reputable tuners are total diese performance, gearhead, PHP, DP Tuner, etc. there's plenty more but those are who come to mind. Google should yield more absurdly in depth info than you'll care to read on this topic.

Edit: knottyrope types faster

I agree, the best "mpg saver" is the skinny pedal mod, aka drive it like a grandpa. Don't go over 70, don't go over 2000 rpm, and plan braking and accelerations in advance. In my experience, even custom tunes yield very minimal (if any) mpg gains, usually mpg loss because it's so dadgum fun to drive a fast truck.

I have NEVER gotten good mileage on three different PSD's, even when they were stock. Congrats to those who get over 13 or 14 mpg. And I'm a grandpa! lol

For what it's worth i have a TS 6 position chip in my truck with the stock tunes. I've put 40,000 miles on that truck in the past year and trust me i've fiddled with the settings wondering what would yield me the best MPGs.

I've found that the 75 HP tune yields the best fuel economy. I was averaging about 17-21 MPG. That's empty truck, cruise control set at 75MPH cruising across like Texas/Arizona. My truck has 4.10 gears, automatic, 4x4.

Also note when i was getting 21 MPG that was literally fill up at fuel station, hop on highway, set cruise control to 75MPH, aaaand stop 6 and a half hours later for fuel.
