Well it had to happen one day!
My fuel gauge has been reading bad for a while & today I ran out of fuel! I keep a 2 gallon can in the bed & thanks to what I've read here I was confident it would start again. I cycled the key a couple of times & it fired right up although it sounded like a bag of spanners. I guess that's air in the injectors? I let it idle for a minute then drove on, it took a couple of miles until it sounded totally normal but all is good now. I drove straight to get fuel & with refilling the can & the tank I put in 150.4 litres (39.73 us gallons), I'm happy with that.
I plan to drop the tank & fix the sender when the weather is better & I have some free time again thanks to the information I've learned from here so thanks FTE for giving me the confidence to find my limit!

When I was stationed there from 1999-2005 we could get fuel on base or get coupons for fuel at deeply discounted prices off base. I paid $2.20 a gallon last time I filled up the 75 gallons my truck can hold.
If you don't already have it, I had a solid list of parts and where to get them posted up a couple of years ago. If you need help finding the list, let me know.
The Hutch/Harpoon mod has been one of my favorite due to increased capacity, not puking all over my shoes, allowing for the commercial diesel fill nozzles and it just seemed to make the idle quieter.

I never complained about fuel prices again after visiting Holland a few years back. We were paying about $4.75-$4.85 a gallon in my area before the prices reversed. $140 fill-ups at 1/4 tank... once a week in the winter. Using the Prius in the summer months payed for the whole car in fuel savings. With the lower price of fuel today, the fuel savings alone no longer cover all the expenses of owning the Prius. Factor in the wear and tear on very expensive parts, the oil changes, and the like - and the Prius still holds its own.
Stinky (Superduty): 120 gallons of diesel (minimum) per month when driving daily to work.
Stingy (Prius): 40 gallons of Premium per month when driving daily to work.
