Converting from a np435 to C6 behind 351 Cleveland

We are going to convert my son's 75 F100 that has a 360 with an np435 behind it right now we are swapping in a 351 Cleveland that is back by a C-6. wanted to know if there is any compatibility between the transmission crossmember between the np435 and the automatic or will it have to be specifically Sourced out form an automatic vehicle? Wondering if anybody is ever adopted the manual crossmember and just added to it so that it works with a C6

The crossmembers are the same I believe. Only the mounts were different.

You'll also need a steering column for an automatic and the linkage from the column to the transmission.

'73-'77 automatic steering columns will have the NSS (Neutral Safety Switch) mounted on top of the column, inside the cab, near the firewall. '78/'79 automatic steering columns didn't have an NSS on them. The '78/'79 NSS was mounted to the side of the automatic transmission.

The column-to-firewall seal and the firewall-to-column mounting bracket are different between manual steering and power steering columns.

This link is for Bumpside trucks but it will give you overall information on some required steering column parts if going from manual to power steering. --the Bendix PS gearbox won't apply to Dentside trucks. It was phased out in favor of the Saginaw PS box beginning in 1969.

OR

keep the manual column and run a floor shifter. That's how mine is, and I love it!

I find the neutral safety and clutch safety switches to be a nuisance... if I want to start it in gear, I want to start it in gear.

Well I have pretty much all the parts then. Donor was a 79 auto short bed so I have the cold the drive shafts, so the mount is all I need and possibly a new steering shaft unless I have enough length on the one we are running in it now.

No clutch safety switch until 1984.

Wasn't sure when they started with those, I didn't think we had them... but they're still a nuisance...
