coolant change

I'm getting ready to change outs the coolant in my '96 and was wondering what coolant to use HD EL (Fleetguard, I've used this previously) or some other? I can't seem to find a consistent answer on the web so I thought it best to go to the source of Powerstroke wisdom.
Thanks for your insight.

In our trucks, you don't want to use any type of extended life coolants. You need to use the "green coolant" which oddly enough isn't always green. To that you will need to add SCAs unless you buy it precharged.

I used the fleet precharged stuff. If doing a full flush, which is recommended but not always practical, you drain it all and pull the two block plugs. Full with 4 gallons of concentrate and top off with distilled water. If your block was completely drained, you'll add 4 gallons of water. If there was still water in there from the flush, by doing the concentrate and water method, you'll ensure a 50/50 mix which is what you want.

If you're just going to drain as much as you can and no water flush then use the 50/50 mix.

If you can't get the block plug out on the drivers side then pull the block heating element.

I Peak Fleetcharge or something like that. Google search Gooch's Coolant Flush and you'll find all the info you could ever need.

Make sure it's FLEET Charge, not FINAL Charge.

At $9 a gallon, is it 50/50 pre-diluted, or full-strength? The new jugs/labels can be deceptive, they're ALMOST the same, and the "50/50" part is not very prominent. If you got the pre-diluted, you'll need at least eight gallons (and of course, don't add any distilled water on the final fill). It's also a much more expensive way to buy anti-freeze.

If it's full-strength for $9 / gallon, that's a steal.

It was 50/50. It's all they had. It wasn't ideal, but I figured some SCAs are better than none for right now.

^^^^ That's exactly how I got mine. Advance pretty-much ALWAYS has code TRT30 active - 30% off $40 or more, including online orders for in-store pickup (no shipping).

Sorry for the late reply. I want to thank all of you for your help in my quest to get the job done right. I don't want to do anything that may have long term issues for my cross country driver and with you help I won't.
Thanks.
