Maybe. In school I got gold stars and the stupid fat kids beat me up for it. Nowadays every kid gets a gold medal. Probably easier that way.

You get those for receiving "rep" points from your fellow FTE members. You give reps by clicking on the scales right above the green squares. You are only allowed to give reps to the same person after spreading around several meaningless points to those who don't necessarily deserve them before being allowed to give more to someone whom you believe should get them for their help or attitude or whatever.

That stinking "rule" almost drove me away from FTE, and it's the best site on the web.

Everyone starts out with one green square. You don't get more green squares unless people give you rep points.

There are several members that have been here longer than I have, that only have one or two "greenies."

Once you attain 1600 points, you have reached the maximum amount of green squares (11).

The 11 green squares I have represent 8,498 points.

IMO, FTE ought to get rid of this system, because it's as worthless as teats on a mule.

Some people give reps just by saying hello, but originally, reps were supposed to only be given for helpful posts.

Thanks for explaining guys. I have been here since the beginning (I had a different user name then) and I had no idea about this.

I agree with Bill (ND), worthless, jmo.

And as for getting gold stars when you were a kid, they were passed out when you actually worked for it. These days, they just pass em out to ALL kids/students, so you don't hurt anyones feeligs. AND, they wonder why we are close to the bottom of the list in education. Gee, let's build more of those 'safe spaces'...
JMO
Course, I'm just an old fart, what the heck do I know.
